I thought it was about time I made a thread for this project as we've been at it for a while now.
It all started with me talking with Dr_D about that I had a couple of ideas for some oldschool fps games and the next thing I know we're working on this full speed ahead. Well, Doc is working on the code, all this opengl stuff and OOP makes me dizzy, and lately sir_mud joined in and have helped with making it possible for us to use some libs with win64 builds. I'm the graphics and story guy on this one.
The setting:
Alernative history around 1850-1900. Machines are powered by magic inbued crystals. Monsters are damn real.
FIrst part of the game is about the player running around on different levels collecting items to be able to get to the second part. The first part will have a bunch of levels with secrets and backtracking and at times the player are going to want to go back to old levels.
All these levels will have their own enemy types and some enemies that are universal. I'm going with the wolf3d approach and just having them 1 directional. If I would go 8 directional we could never do all the enemytypes lol.
The second part will most likely not have the option to going back to levels because of story reason. It'll a pretty straightforward history I think.
