2024 , THE OUTRO

Way back in the Year of our Laird 2022, I busted out a quick and dirty little scrolly in the final days of my vacation. It took approximately six hours from start to finish, and felt like a truly excellent way to escort the passing year out the door. My love of scrollies is fairly well documented at this point in time; never doubt this. The itch was there in 2023, but alas, I spent my every waking moment working on the damn Revision demo that I will never, ever, be completely satisfied with, for reasons that are also well documented.

I sorta kinda missed the deadline for making a 2024 outro, but what good are dates, and our supposed adherence to them, in the face of the galaxy's effectively perpetual march through the heavens? Does the universe care one whit whether I release my scrolly in "December?" Probably fucking not. And good thing, too -- if the galaxy suddenly starts caring about framing things against the Gregorian calendar, I'm in worse shape than I realized.

Having said all that, this cute little outro was the result of approximately 2.5 hours of work last night, and one hour of tweaking tonight. That's got to be some sort of land-speed record for me shitting out any sort of production. To be fair, the music was an old track I composed for Vertical Hold, so there's that, but still... I was kinda on fire last night. Anyway, the stars in the background are excited as they pass over the near-invisible exploded pixels of the "GDR" logo, and they decay shortly thereafter. It's a basic pattern I've used in other games and demos. I had a blast cranking it out, and look forward to seeing what I come up with for next year.
