THE BOSTON CAR HORN INQUIRY
I visited Boston for the first time. Interesting place, that. My main observation being that people there have astounding reaction speed, and will honk their horns in less than 250ms after a light turns green, if they don't perceive motion ahead of their position. This is truly difficult to rationalize given that most people operate at the "Um.... can I get a.... uhhhhhh...." speed, while standing at a drive through window, even though they've been staring at the menu for half an hour.
Regardless, the cacophony of car horns was a bit much at times, and after a while you just end up tuning it out, which of course lessens the desired effect. "Oh, another car horn. Surely this has nothing to do with me, my immediate surroundings, or even anything of consequence."
Such is Boston logic, or lack thereof. I kid. Really.
Anyway, I had a generally fantastic time in downtown Boston, and got to meet up with Sonrisu. This was yet another certified, life-affirming experience for 2023 (I've lost count by now), and we pounded the pavement seeking out tasty local treats and drinks. My cup runneth over. Be assured that next time I'm in Boston, I'll be giving him a shout.
