The long-canceled Castlevania game for Dreamcast has finally been dumped. Well, sadly it's just a playable demo, as the game was never completed. I've fired it up under Flycast and it runs well.

I didn't even know this was a thing. Ha.
Related, season 4 of the Castlevania Netflix show looks good.

Oh, holy crap. I had no idea that was so close. And I'm terribly disappointed thiss will be the final season.

Yeah. There's talks of a spin-off/follow up series (different Belmont maybe?), but yeah the writer of the show got called out for some shit.

Final season ended up being quite nice, in terms of production value and general quality, although I'm still disappointed with having so many plot lines left on the cutting room floor, or squeezed into the last few episodes.

Yeah. I've seen shows wrap-up much worse (#EndingsAreHard). Overall I'd say it was a good show. It represented the franchise extremely well. It's no Super Mario Bros Hollywood movie.
I did a bit of digging and I was surprised to see the show has actually been in "development hell" since 2007 (14 years ago, or roughly 10 years before it was greenlit). It was originally a film, and haha Iga made the writer rewrite the script 8 times before approving it. . The film became the story covered in seasons 1 and 2.
I remember early-on in the series thinking "man I hope they do Symphony of the Night's story"... except in hindsight, now that the show is over, I think the story presented here was interesting enough. Castlevania 3's story was half-assed, as it was a NES game. To be fair, it didn't need a story. Fighting Dracula was motivation enough. I pondered what other Castlevania stories might be worth telling, and while Leon (the 1st Belmont) or Soma Cruz (modern day take) would be interesting, I'm not really convinced they're necessary. If this is all the Castlevania show we get, I'll be fine with it. I wont complain about more Castlevania, but the show we got represents a series I love well enough that I'm content with it.

Oh. Apparently a Richter Belmont series is in development.
Huh. So if that doesn't completely bomb, that's right in line as the precursor to Symphony of the Night.
